I really enjoyed the movie. I really never studied the assassination of President Kennedy before, but this movie really made me ask the question, who killed the President? I don't know facts well enough to point my fingers at someone, but it makes you think if the government is capable of a conspiracy. I read the link about JFK's 100 errors, and it made me think again. Of course that no one knows who is really involved in the assassination of the President, but we all know that even if they knew of course they would not tell the police about that matter. So lies stays up and most of the people that were involved, that had a clue are dead anyway, so it is a question that we may never have an answer to.
hmmmm. While the movie was super happy fun time, the movie's theory of the magic bullet put me off, we all know that the bullet was a real magic bullet forged by illuminati mystics to prevent us from learning the truth that Oswald acted alone. But thanks to the magic using dectectives the case was solved. But the illuminati remain a true threat.
Oh and all that crap about errors. I never cared it's a movie and the facts seem to detract from the coolness of any situation. Rule of cool
"I was just in Dallas, and uh . . . you know, you can go to the sixth floor of the School Book Depository. . . . But it's really weird, you can actually-- They have the windows set up to look exactly like it did on that day, and it's really accurate, you know, 'cause Oswald's not in it! Ha ha ha! Yeah. So, I don't know who did their research, but I'm talkin' pains-taking detail." --Bill Hicks
That quote pretty much sums up my knowledge of the Kennedy Assassination. Obviously, Oswald was not in the position to have shot Kennedy in the way that he was shot, if he was even there at all. JFK provided an interesting take and theory on the assassination, and there's no reason to discount every point made in the movie just because it was a work of historical realistic fiction. However, we probably will never know the truth in any amount of certainty, so while controversial, I think the assassination of John F. Kennedy is pretty much a dead issue.
The best part of the movie was the magic bullet scene. I could only think of that Seinfeld episode of the magic loogie! And I laughed! I like how the movie, while it may not give us the answer to who really assassinated the JFK, can open our eyes. Help us see that corruption is apparent, government is not perfect by any means, and hopefully we will start to research and take political standpoints.
this file have got very close to reality. I know for the fact, is that we are the social animal to find the way to survive, not individual but collective mentality. Nothing going or will to change any man to come close to the center of society. "the power corrupt and absolutely power corrupt absolutely" these peoples are going to the wrong way. They are tried to build the world order by force, bloodshed on the street and quick revolution. that is the wrong way! The best way is to patian and gradualism to open to free talk and free market. we must have the debating and issues to talk about, in order to surviver in the group.
Is this going to be one of those cold cases they'll solve in another fifty years when a detective exumes the shooters DNA from a blade of grass off the nole... I want to know why the CIA did'nt just put Kennedy's prints on the rifle and call it suicide. That would be just as believable as the contraversal bullistic theory, which is so offensive to anyone that has shot a gun... I've only seen peices of JFK on the TV until last thursday. If I would have known how good it was, I would have watched it a lot sooner, evan though I now loose sleep at night... I want justice.
I have to say I enjoyed this film on multiple levels. First I enjoyed it from an entertainment standpoint, I was happy that I was able to sit back and watch a movie and not have to think about anything, it kinda formed views and scenarios for you through "facts"
Second, I enjoyed this from a corrupt government point of view. We all know there are secrets hidden by the governement from the general public. This is the first time I have seen this film, but from the first time it showed the assassination of JFK, you could tell that as they said in the movie "back... and left...... back and left".The shot didnt come from where they say it first came from. And if anyone has ever shot a bolt action rifle, 6 seconds may sound long and easy to get 3 shots off like that, but hell no, not easy at all. And yes, as others have said the majic bullet theory was entertaining. Not sure if anyone else feels this way, but if a gun is fired around me, its pretty obvious as to where it came from, no matter how many people are around, or whats going on. Its not the most subtle of sounds and would make an impact on me. Its obvious there is some sort of coverup. Who is responsible and why was it handled this way is up to speculation.
After reading "The JFK 100" my first question about the film was answered, i wanted to know how credible the film was. its obvious that the conservative and or liberal media will have you believe what they want you to, regardless of the facts. the movie did however make me question the actual truth as to whether or not this truly was a conspiracy. they indicated in the film that it all hinges on the "magical bullet". if there was another shot then it was certainly a conspiracy, and the government has done a hell of a job covering it up. there are two sides to every story, and in this case looking at what certainly is misinformation and misinterpretation of many facts by oliver stone, this theory of a conspiracy is obsolete.
I really enjoyed watching JFK because i have always wondered exactly what happened. and i guess i will never truly know because there seems to be so many viable stories then of course so many people trying to disprove their story. Throughout the entire movie i kept wondering how the American people could hate our president. and further more, how they could create a plot to kill him. i did think that was very clever with the magic bullet and that makes tons of sense. i think we should start giving our troops magic bullets because that would sure make their lives easier. The triangulation of a triple cross fire makes great sense but why was there no physical evidence such as casings, or bullet fragments in the car, things of that nature. And i was also wondering why the FBI did not conduct a better initial investigation? why were so many documents not recorded or lost?
its crazy to think that the american people could hate their president so much that they would kill him.
Honestly my mind was blown when I saw this film, I mean I can really say that I enjoyed watching JFK though because I have always wondered exactly what had happened. I guess there really wont ever be a clear resolution to this dilema of mine, but at least I have a little clue as to how it all went down, so I guess I will never truly know, which is a disapointment. There certaintly seems to be a lot of viable stories, then of course so many people try to disprove these stories and create new ones to tell their perspective on what actaully happend. Throughout the entire movie I kept wondering how the American people could hate our president. This made me think alot about our government and how they really get what they want, because obviously JFK was trying to make a change and trying to end war, to create peace, but since that stopped a lot of the goverment profits and money making they couldnt have that so they decided to plot and kill their own president, I just dont know how the American people took part in this role, and why they hated JFK so much, further more, how they could just up and decide who to kill and how come there was such a easy aspect of creating this plot to kill him anyways. I have so many questions about everything that our goverement does, since Ive seen this movie, no wonder why a lot of people dont trust our government, it is flawed. Also I didnt think the magic bullet theory was very clever and it didnt make any sense as to how this "magic bullet" managed to swerve in and out of JFKs body, and into the other guys, I found it quiet funny actually, mainly because if there is such a thing as this "magic bullet" I think we should start providing our troops with them because after all that would deffinantly put less of a worry on them about losing their lives for their country and ofcourse make their experience in war as well as their life it self way easier. Another question that came up to my mind was the triangulation of a triple cross fire, which makes great sense but why was there no physical evidence such as casings, or bullet fragments in the car, or anything of that nature. I was also pondering about why the FBI did not conduct a stronger initial investigation? and also why were there so many documents that weren't recorded?
I just think that this whole movie makes you change your mind about how our goverment works and that there is way more to it then what meets the eye, when they are capible of plotting and killing our president, then you wonder what else has the goverement done that we done know about, what else have they covered? It just crazy to think that our goverement and some of our citizens could hate such a good president and want him dead, that is something that I will never understand.
I enjoyed watching this film. After reading the "JFK 100" I could see that a lot of key points in the film were either misinterpreted or fictual. This makes you question the film's credibility but it doesnt change the fact that just from watching a movie like this, you will be left questioning the government. I for one have very little faith in the government of recent years. I know there are people involved that want to do good, just like there are others who want power and to make a profit for themselves. So, could the assassination of JFK have been part of a government conspiracy? It would not surprise me if it was, I hope that one day this case is truly solved and justice is served.
There are some interesting theories on President Johnson being behind the assassination online. If any of you are interested try searching it on youtube or google.
This was a long film. Yet time really flew as I watched it. I had heard of this movie but honestly thought it was a movie that walked through JKF's life and not through his death. I think I enjoyed that more. I think a lot of people often think of JFK as some sort of amazing, flawless, loved by all President, but he wasn't. He had people who were against him and didn't agree with him. The assassination of JFK was merely the backdrop for a much larger sort of scandal going on.
I also enjoyed the way the story was told. Has people recounted their versions of who was who and where the image had a sort of doubting feeling. Almost dreamlike in some cases. Which gave you the idea that maybe this was true or maybe it wasn't. You don't know.
Another enjoyable factor was the idea of Kevin Costner's obsession. Like in David Fincher's Zodiac the main character is not the killer or the victim but the obsessed. Seeing the trail and toll it takes on his family was interesting as a character study as well as a test of devotion. Great movie overall!
After watching this movie, it made me think more and more of our goverment and the interworkings of it all. It doesn't make sense why a man who wanted to end wars and bring peace is killed. The movie brought out ideas that almost made you think that the government is capable of more things than the general american people assumed. They run our country and control how it's ran for the most part. There are so many different branches stemming from CIA to Secret Service. What our government has to hide is beyond me but how the movie presented things like all these disclosed information that was not released or the countless evidence that Kevin Costner's character brought up like that guy who he believed had a seizure but somehow was never checked in to the hospital. Overall, i did enjoy the movie and how it almost makes you put the picture together with all the pieces of gathered information Costner's fellow characters brought up.
I thought the movie was a pretty good movie Ive seen bits and pieces but always changed the channel because I never really caught on to what the movie was about and I hated the spoken accents. Yet after actually watching the movie from the beginning and seeing what it was all about I found it quite enjoyable. Ive watched shows on the JFK assassination on the History Channel and the whole conspiracy theory so Ive heard quite a bit about the whole situation. There is no questioning the fact that there are allot of things we don't know about the shooting and wont know due to the fact that the general population is kept out of the loop on important issues. Even though there is the guy who wrote the JFK 100 he doesn't know that all of his information to prove Oliver Stone wrong is actually factually since if there is this conspiracy then whats out on the internet is only what the government at the time let out. I mean come one the government kept us out and is still keeping us from knowing all the 911 attack info. None of us will ever know what happened for sure with either situation except people lost there lives. I mean come on have you watched the news lately you don't ever hear anything about the important stuff its all for ratings and most of important stories never air. If you trust your government your a fool and if you believe everything you see on the news then you seriously need to take a step outside and look at whats really going on. Though I wouldn't recommend digging to deep into anything cause the government will find you then label you as a terrorist and ship you overseas to get your nuts electrocuted off.
I've always been somewhat curious about the whole assassination bit and "who done it"? So the movie totally had me captivated 100% of the time and I had to tell myself, ok how much of this is true and how much did Hollywood take and twist it for dramatic effect? I appreciated how the JFK 100 Errors author stated that he only intended his report to be factual and not slanderous against the screen writers. There is no way that Osswald did it himself. Anybody who looked at the damaged caused between JFK and his bodyguard would know that it was too substantial for the limited time it took place for it to have been a simple one man show. The whole Magic Bullet idea through me for a loop that it caused 7 different penetration wounds between two men. It has happened before that one bullet has cause more than a simple entrance/exit wound but that is all based on a persons position and the shooters angle; but I can't think of how that could happen 7 times with all those odd twists and turns? So, needless to say, that while Hollywood does a grand job of hooking suckers like me into believing what they portray as "based on a true story", the truth sometimes is a bitch to accept because its not as entertaining; however; there is an element of truth that can be equally captivating. You just need to paint the portrait in your head yourself.
Well, let's start by saying that Oliver Stone created a wonderful piece of historical based faction. Let us look at the credits that say that the film is BASED on the books, On the Trail of the Assassins by Jim Marrs and Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy, by Jim Garrison, the credits did not say it is a historical recreation with testimony taken from eye-witness accounts compiled for a documentary.
I have always found the murder of John F. Kennedy to be fascinating. Lee Harvey Oswald was killed by Jack Ruby two days after the murder. Harvey never came to trial and a jury never had an opportunity to prove him guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt.
We had a government organization that told us the way it happened and were expected to believe what we were told in a time that our government was supposed to be there for us.
The murder will potentially remain a mystery to us as long as there is an ear to listen to the events because it will always be unanswered by everybody involved.
As far as the Stone film vs. the JFK 100, it is obvious that Stone gave us HIS interpretation of the events, this is what filmmakers do. They take us on a journey through their eyes and we give them millions of dollars yearly to do it.
I found that the film moved at a great pace. I particularly enjoyed John Candy as Dean Andrews. The character was full of life and great comic relief in a time of tension in the film. I found there to be additional tid-bits that helped the film for dramatic purposes. Jack Lemmon as Jack Martin, I learned that Jack Martin was an untrustworthy person and in his own words, Jim Garrison cited that he was not a reliable source; yet the film hinges it’s foundations of mistrust on a person that could not be trusted.
Let’s face it, great movie, but it IS historically inaccurate. The only issue I take would be our future generations possibly viewing it as history. AS a music aficionado, I must comment on John Williams’ score. He helped take us to a galaxy far away in a time long ago, he helped us fear a shark, he brought tension to a man being chased by a boulder, as well as a tear to our eye when an alien loved a boy named Elliott. In JFK he provided a noble sound that honors an American leader and made for some damn fine marching band fodder of the mid-90’s.
Thanks for an afternoon of entertainment and a history lesson afterward. I’m looking forward to Thursday. If I may take a guess, American History X??
The film, in an entertaining view, is done well. The actors did a great job in it. The musical score was superb. Being the Director's Cut of the film, it was quite long. Perhaps too long. Some parts of the film seemed too slow and some scenes could have been cut out or shortened.
This is the first time I watched this movie. Like a previous post here, I thought the movie was going to be about the life of John F. Kennedy, not his assassination. Once the film starts by zipping through the history of what happened prior to his death, I now was assuming right away that Oliver Stone was "listing" reasons as to why many people were angry at Kennedy, setting up the 3 hours of conspiracy-filled entertainment.
Prior to watching the film, or even taking this course, Ive had interest in the assassination and sometimes would watch documentaries on TV when they happen to be on while channel surfing or random googling. So prior in my mind, I always thought there had to be a conspiracy involved with the assassination. As I sat through the film, it confirmed to me there was a conspiracy.
If I were to just have watched only the movie, I would have believed most of it and came to the conclusion that Jim Garrison was right. However, reading the JFK 100 list afterwards, it is very important to see that Oliver Stone potrayed assassination and the conspiracy in his own eyes. He added, omitted, misconstrued, created many fictional elements, and blatantly lied. Thus creating controversy.
I believe there was a conspiracy involved in the Assassination of JFK. However, not in the over the top, extreme and paranoid view that Jim Garrison and, especially, Oliver Stone believe and presented in this film.
I’m happy I watched this movie. I’ve never really gotten into the assassination of JFK, so it was good for me to learn more about it. I also enjoyed reading the link about the One Hundred Errors of Fact and Judgment in the movie, it was interesting to have things straightened out and to have a better understanding. My favorite part was also the magic bullet I thought it was pretty funny. I didn’t hate the movie but I didn’t love it either.
I like the movie a lot. It opens your eyes on the look at things from a different point of view. I do believe that the government has its hand is certain event. I thought the movie portrayed the assignation of JFK very well as the evidence that the led you to believe that the government was behind it. I do think that the government set it up to a point there is to many loose end that got tied up unusually. Ya there is the web site that show 100 things wrong with the movie but were did he get his information from history books they could be altered. Anyone could put together a web site. There are lots of people that believe that the government set up 911 there is a lot of loose ends that are tied up unusually there too. It all what you want to believe and who you want to believe in.
I thought the movie was really good. If you think about it, it makes you wonder who really did kill JFK. I've never really thought about but after watching the movie it open your eye's not only on his assasination but other people's. I think it's wrong that someone would kill someone out of hate. There is people like that out in the world though which is sad. This movie was really good and it makes you appreciate what you have!!! Good choice of movie Sara!!!
So I thought the show was put together pretty well. The first 45 minutes of the show kind of dragged about for me. But the later parts of it i was pretty interested.
What little I did know about the JFK assasination before viewing this film was all heresay from what my dad had told me about it. He is a huge believer/follower of the JFK conspiracy.
I did know that JFK had been shot twice, I've seen the footage of it before viewing this show and its obvious to see that Kennedy was hit by two bullets at two different trajectories. What I didnt know though was that he was shot at, at least 4 times. So that pretty much rules out the fact Oswald acted alone, if indeed he was even involved at all. I think he was a scapegoat. Now i know that some of the scences and situations could easily have been fabricated by the film makers, but what isnt arguable is how far fetched that magic bullet theroy is. There was definitely at least 2 shooters, so that leads me to think why on earth if this wasn't a conspiracy has the government not solved the case? Or at least tried to solve it? Obviously Oswald could not have acted alone! Total conspiracy, just like Area 51!
Well, I really liked the movie. I was totally bummed out we didn't get to finish it, but I did rent it and will get to seeing the end when I have time. I really can honestly say that I don't know who in the worlk shot JFK after watching that. I know it is a movie and all, but it makes you think. I am someone who didn't really know much about the situation except that JFK was shot and they caught this guy who they believed to be the killer and I just accepted that. Well, this movie got me thinking about a lot of things and it just all doesn't add up to me. It's funny, when I got home I started talking about the movie with my family and me and my father got in a little debate about it. I believe that Lee Harvey Oswald didn't act alone and my dad thinks he did and we were just kind of debating the topic. I thought it was a great movie (despite how long it was)
i liked the film, but then i read a lot of the stuff that was incorrect. like the whole magic bullet theory. if you haven't followed the link and read about it i would suggest you do so. that doesn't change the fact that i don't think oswald had anything to do with it. the cia just wanted to get rid of their inside man, and what better way to do so than pin jfk's death on him. i mean if that is true, they would know he wouldn't say a thing when he was aressted because he wouldn't want to blow his cover. i have been to the BDB in dallas and there is no way oswald could have made that shot with that crapy rifle.
After having watched the movie in class and again after renting it I must say that I was very interested in getting as much info on the matter as I could. My inital conclusion was that given the evidence provided in the movie there must have been some form of a conspiracy and a minimum of two shooters. The primary reason for this assumption was based on the images shown over and over in the zaprudder film where it clearly shows the presidents head moving "back and to the left". One of the first things I remembered about the film was the mention of the bullet that struck the president from the rear of the back and exiting through the front of the neck. Then later watching the images of the bullet stricking the president in the side of the head. From the seemingly two seperate angles of of impact I drew the conclusion that there must have been at least two gunmen and thus a conspiracy. Who was involved in the conspiracy involves so many potential combinations that I dont belive this could ever be clearly defined(that is if the assasination even was a large scale conspiracy as is perpetuated in the film JFk) which after having read the links provided by Sara I have a hard time beliving that there were additional gunmen. A conspiracy to me, could have still been possible without involving multiple gunmen, I mean why was there so many unexplained events surrounding the case . Isnt it still possiblle that many individuals contributed the assasination in one for or another including some former or then employed government individuals? of course! But I am satisfied that the overwhelming evidence/information provided in the case supports the lone gunman senerio. I was most convinced of this after having seen the zaprudder film frames showing the presidents head and brain matter clearly being propelled forward rather than "Back and to the left" as stated over and over in the movie. Oliver stone convieniently doesnt show the super slow motion frames just before the "back and to the left" movement shown on his version of the truth. They actually show the presidents head and exploding skull moving obviously forwad.I think that I have learned once again we all need to take into consideration the source of our info for example, who is oliver stone to be an athority on this subject anyway? I mean I really dont know anything about him personally but im sure he's no expert in the sciences used to evaluate the death of the president. I think he knew how contrversial this film would be no matter how you acctually feel about it and thus translating into big money at the box office. Right?
What a long movie!! I must admit it took awhile to get me interested into the film. However, through the middle I was very intrigued trying to figure out if the assassination was conspiracy from the government or an actual assassination? I’ve never put in real deep thought into this important even in history. Before seeing the film I believed that John F. Kennedy was just another fatality of an individual who was protesting (obviously taking it to a drastic extreme) with the actions of the United States Government, as it was with the loss of Abraham Lincoln or Martin Luther King.
Before starting the movie, I thought it was going to be a biography of JFK, WOW, was I wrong. I really liked how the film was structured, showing actual footage of the day of the assassination. It was interesting to see how the movie at first was built around the assassin. But as the film evolved it moved farther away from pointing the finger to one individual to pointing the finger to the government. Though the movie was dealing with a serious subject, I was amused by the satirical comedy provided by the characters; this made the film realistic and entertaining. After seeing the film I was convinced the government was involved in the assassination but after reading the link of the 100 errors of fact and judgment I don’t know what to think! Could the U.S. Government really plot an assassination against its own president? By asking this question, only more problems arise than answers.
ok.... This movie was TOO long! Way too long to sit in a tiny rickety chair for 4 hours and not feel some kind of pain. My ADHD kicked in and combined with the environment, it was far too difficult for me to take in everything. Although, this movie was very educating and informative, it felt like Oliver Stone was shoveling all this information into a brain that had already spent the whole day thinking and was exhausted. However, it was interesting to get a new view on the situation and to learn that there still is that question of who done it... I would like to watch it again to actually understand Oliver's theory but this time include a few potty breaks, a blue Monster and maybe a nap or two.
After watching JFK, I now understand why it is still such a big issue. During the film, I kept asking myself, was that really true? Could all of this really happen? The film, made me lean towards government intervention, but that would be an unfair judgement based mostly on the movie facts. I believe that it could not of been done by one man, which raises more questions such as was Oswald part of it with the goverment? Was he part of a team that had no connection with the goverment? I like how this film made us think about what we think and what the facts are. I think a big problem with this issue is that we are not sure what facts we can trust. In the movie Oliver Stone made it seem like we can not trust any of the information from the government. Which then made me think of, well what information can we use and will even that information be valid or biased. I think Oliver Stone made this movie to let the viewers think about more posibilities than maybe before and present both sides of the argument. Although the movie was very interesting and exciting, I must be careful not to take it too seriously. Instead of getting involved in the issue presented in the film, I think everyone must remember that the film was designed to make money, not solve the problem. That is why I think Stone took the side of government intervention, because that would stir up more controversy and thus sell more tickets. Also, this would give the film more attention which is just another way to make more money. Altogether I think this film made me think more than any other film I have watched, and the thing I like most about it is that it is the only film that makes me want to get out and do more research to actually be more informative on the subject. That is what I think made this film so great is the ability to make people think differently and want to dig further into the issue.
Going into the movie I really didn't know what to expect. After seeing what the links were all about I was kind of thinking that we would be watching Thirteen Days, which I was not looking forward to, Also featuring Kevin Costner I believe. I fell asleep in that movie and was afraid I would agian, so thankfully we watched JFK.
First I would like to say that I really enjoyed the movie, yes I agree it was pretty long but sometimes especially in a movie like this, there are just so many details that cannot be left out, which can sometimes create a little bordom. But overall it was great.
The parts that I really enjoyed about JFK was how they used real footage and tied it into the whole plot. They probably could have hired some actor to play the part of JFK but it definately wouldn't have made the impact that it did to use real footage. And the way the opening of the film was all edited and put together in my opinion was brilliant, I thought that it really set the tone for how important the rest of the film was.
I also find it crazy that the whole idea was that our own government was behind this conspiracy. It's just amazing to think that it was and is a possibility for the government to pull something like that.
I think the movie was a little dry and unentertaining. It had a decent storyline but think they could have added a little more action to make the movie more entertaining. The plot in the movie was a little unbelievable too. It seemed like the director was trying to stretch a lot of non relevant information and twist it into something that was relevant. First of the entire whole thing with their being no secret service present at the shooting. Anyone that has had any experience with the secret service will know that it is the job of the secret service to be blend into the crowed while they protect the president, so no one can really say just how many members were there. Also I thought it was interesting that over 90% of the people reported 3 or less shots that day. That leaves less than ten percent of the people actually hearing more than three shots. Again stretching facts.
Well what a good movie, i didn't really know that much about the assassination of Kennedy. and i think the reason for Oliver stone making this film was to get people thinking. the government just wanted to close the case after oswald died the guy they accused of shooting kennedy. I think the film got all of us thinking about it and we all probably did some more research on the subject. I rented the movie to watch the end of it and i was glad i did. The movie had alot to think about could there be three shooters? could the government be involved? I know i cant wait until 2028 when they release all the police statements and facts about the shooting. Great movie
My feelings on jfk The Movie. Hmmm well all in all it was a pretty entertaining movie. A little slow at the begining though. They should have some kind of explosion or something. But anyways it was a good movie and bye the end of it you actually start to think you know something about the whole jfk assasination. Which we all know isnt true. But that just means it was a well done movie. The whole conspiracy surrounding the jfk assassination in my opinion doesnt really matter either way. Sadly the guy is dead and there is not much we can really do about it. Even if it was the goverment that killed him could you imagine if he would have lived. It would have changed the course of history most likely in a huge way. So without it we might have been thrust into a hell like state or just the opposite we could have flying cars and everyone be a millionare. But we will never know owell. Anyways i got a little of subject. the movie was good even if it was a bit tedious at times. i would give it a three out of five.
I knew of the assassination of JFK but I never heard of the conspiracy behind it? I found it interesting that the CIA could be behind it all...I mean no one else beside them could've of pulled off all those cover up and override all those tight safety protocols and precautions that was set forth to insure the President's safety???
To see in the movie the "actual" video footage of the way JFK's head rocked backward and parts of the back of his head blown off from the third fatal shot, alone proves that Oswald couldn't been the only shooter. someone had to have shot him from the front of the car during the distraction! Who the hell was the driver and why the F@*K did he slow down for after the intial gun shot? Everyone knows to drive like a bat out of hell if you where getting shot at! If the our government can do a cover up like that, than what is it that they aren't capable of?
It is pretty obvious, from watching the movie JFK and reading the various articles about the discrepancies in the movie, that we just simply don't know what exactly happened. It, in my opinion, is one of those stories that will never have a conclusion. The movie, has a great place in the overall story of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. If nothing else, it opens people up and intrigues them to learn more about this significant, and tragic event in U.S. history. I enjoy movies of this nature. They point us towards topics of interest that we normally may just glance over. Although there were many parts of the movie that I personally could have done without, overall it was a very well done movie. We will probably never know if Kennedy's assassination was a government conspiracy, or the actions of Lee Harvey Oswald. With that, I don't feel that this event is grounds for us to assume that the government is always dishonest with us. It should be reason for us to take a look seriously at who we elect to office, do our research, and vote for those people we can trust.
I thought this movie was actually very interesting, especially since I've never really looked at all the variables that were involved during JFK's murder. I have to say that watching this movie can definitely send chills down your spine to think that our government can be so messed up- or any government, for that matter. Even though the movie doesn't prove anything, it's pretty obvious to see that Oswald didn't act alone. It amazes me that the most protected person in the country can be assassinated and we can't even find the killer(s). Coincedence? It doesn't look like it. The day they prove that it was Oswald will be the day that Elvis comes out of hiding.
The movie was extremely long. All in all the movie was alright. I've seen scenes here and there on tv but was never really interested, but when i watched the whole movie in class the plot gave me a different perspective on JFK. I didn't know to much about John F. Kennedy, I would just hear about how he was a famous/ great president but after watching the movie there were so many things he did to our community that corrupted certain people. I can't believe that the government was behind this conspiracy, it just makes me feel insecure about what else they lie about. 50 years from now forensics or some kind of new technological studies will identify the truth and what really happened, and whomever is convicted is going to be long gone by then. My favorite part of the movies was the Magic Bullet, I already knew that it was impossible for a bullet to zoom around someones body like that, you only see that in unreal action movies like "wanted." *laughs* It seems like the whole country is obligated to believe the government because what they say is true but someday someones going to step up and tell the truth about everything all we can do is wait.
JFK. A film about another unsolved conspiracy of the 20th centry. A great film, very long too. Alas we haven't finish it in class. After watch this film, I kind of reminiscent about the many reason which may have leads to Kennedy's assassination. Who really killed him? The Soviets? The Cubans? His political enemies? Or are the people who work within his government? If it is true that the Kennedy brothers were killed by their own, then the U.S. has just marked another dark page in American history. People will doubt the credibility of the government and consider who can or cannot be trusted. Some people may think this film is ridiculous, but I think this film is just trying to use one point of view from many to talk about this history. So I think we don't have to judge this film too assertively. (In the history, the killing of leaders by some group of people in order to achieve their goal are frequent in history. Like during an age of Rome Empire, some Roman emperor may get killed by their Praetorian bodyguards or by generals who has done it for their desire of power.)
I've also considered that... what if Kennedy doesn't get killed? Will the history be any different? Will the Cold War end early? Will the Vietnam War be fought for so long? And will he, John F. Kennedy still be named in history as one of the greatest president of the United States? Of course, we may not know the true answer. And his death may will be a secret in our history.
I thought the JFK movie was good, but you can't always believe what you see in the movies people. It is my opinion the Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in the assassination of president John F. Kennedy. Oliver Stone does an excellent job of stretching the truth in this film. I think that he starts making his viewers believers with the third shot footage. If you slow the footage down it is clearly visible that the third shot came from behind moving the head forward and then back, and not back and to the left as the movie shows. I know that history tells us that our government hasn't always been truthful to us citizens, but to raise a claim that they may have had a hand in the assassination of our president is hard for me to believe. It is just amazing to me how many people base their opinion of the assassination on this movie. Oliver Stone really knows how to make movies.
I thought the movie was WAY too long, and the beginning of the movie was really boring. My eyes were on the screen but my mind was drifting off, but it did start getting more interesting half way through the movie. I never knew anything about the assassination of JFK, I didn’t even know there was a mystery behind the assassinator till I watched the movie. I never knew the government could be behind such a thing, I guess it shows that anything can happen. One part I liked was the magic bullet, when it was explained in the movie it was pretty cool and when I got home I actually decided to read about it. I think the movie was a well played movie even though I didn’t like it too much and even though I didn’t really like it, I still learned a lot from the movie, especially about JFK.
I had mixed emotions on this movie. On one hand, it thoroughly explained a different view on the Kennedy assassination. on the other hand, it was a very long drawn out movie. the movie and the website both raised the question of "who is a credible source to explain the assassination?"
i came into this movie only knowing that Kennedy was assassinated and that Oswald was the one credited with his death. the movie did arouse the questions of Kennedy's death, but it went about it in such a way that left me wondering where they received their information. overall this was a good movie that needed to be shortened down to keep viewers interested.
Oliver Stone’s JFK is significant not because it challenges the accepted explanations of the November assassination, but because it highlights our cultural fascination and romanticization of conspiracy, murder and abuse of governmental powers. The film is well crafted and entertaining, but as emphasized by the JFK 100 (which I begin to wonder how thoroughly previous posters have examined), more fiction than truth; as a commercially successful filmmaker, Stone is well aware of the power of controversy to sell a story. The use of Mr. Garrison’s memoirs as a primary source material is a particularly telling choice by Mr. Stone as he developed the screenplay. Mr. Garrison, whatever else he was, is hardly the most trustworthy source of information, taking many liberties with the truth in his writings, and these liberties were further sensationalized for the film. People believe in his conspiracy presentation because deep down, we all really like a good story. It matters less that such a thing is true than if we believe it to be true. My personal skepticism for the numerous conspiracy theories is based in several facts but the simplest of these (and the briefest to put into an expanding blog post) is that of the nature of conspiracy. The more people who know a secret, the less likely it is to remain a secret for long. Given the sheer scale of all the supposed plots, it is simply impossible that someone would have not yet come out or been exposed disclosing their involvement. When we consider that even Deep Throat couldn’t take his identity to the grave, it strains credulity to grant truth to overarching conspiracies of death. But beyond our collective love of mystery lies another factor that continues to hold the assassination stories in our collective psyche is the cultural icon that President Kennedy was (and has since continued to be). The Kennedy family is a significant part of our American culture and naturally the circumstances of his death also captivate our imagination. Kennedy was beloved as few public heads are (our own royal family in many ways) and was seen as a figure of inspiration, elegance and hope. His assassination ended that love affair with violent finality.
I have never known a whole lot about JFK. All I ever knew about him is he was a president and he got shot and died. I've been to Dallas Texas and have been outside of his memorial building but I have never taken any interest in his history. After watching this movie I now realize how serious this was. I can't amagine having a president die. I have heard that there have already been attempts to kill President Obama and that really frightens me. The president is one the most important people in our country and even if we dont fully believe in his thinking, we have to support his decisions. I think that JFK was a great president. I can't amagine how the country reacted after he had been shot. I never knew that JFK was shot 3-5 times or however many times he really was shot. I also can't believe that no one was caught! It's crazy!
before i read other posts i think that i should write mine. :) so, i think that this movie brings up many questions and provides a version of the answers, but maybe not the truth. as Sara pointed out in class, this is a movie director and has the sole intent to entertain and therefore what is displayed in the movie shouldn't be taken at face value. that aside i think that the movie makes an excellent case for not believing everything that is said by someone else, even if it is the government. for instance the turning point in the beginning of the movie was the written report on the investigation of JFK's murder. our hero in the movie found many different lapses in the investigation and differences in what was reported when compared to evidence that he had from the scene of the crime. i am not personally sure as to what happened and honestly as this is a movie and not a documentary i don't know how many facts are true and what is fabricated for the movie. on the other hand they try to point out that there are many things in the case that are missing and others that appear to be misrepresented. i feel that in the end the message that i got from it is that we should always look for the truth and if something seems wrong try to figure it out. don't just accept what others tell you as the truth blindly. as for the assassination of JFK, i think that there are things that may not add up, but i haven't researched it to make my own opinion.
I have read a little about the JFK assassination before I watched the movie. I have always believed that there was a definite conspiracy behind the JFK assassination. With so many eye witness accounts saying they heard another shot from behind "the tree" it can only make you wonder how many shooters were actually there and that Lee Harvey Oswald was just a puppet of the US government and was set up to be killed from the beginning. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, although it did seem to drag at some parts in the beginning and toward the middle. But Oliver Stone's making of JFK was incredibley entertaining, but to some maybe somewhat fabricated. I do believe though that Mr. Stone does bring out a theory that could have been quite plausible for the U.S. government to pull off. I honestly do believe John F. Kennedy was assassinated by our own government. As well as his brother Robert. If anyone is interested in more conspiracies, check out the movie "Bobby" its about the assassination of Robert Kennedy. it will raise your eye brows just as much as this movie did.
Other then the movie being long I found it interesting. I haven't studied JFK much, but it find it interesting. I special love the magic bullet. Its amazing to see the different theory or point of view people have of the assassination of JFK, and to know which person is the closets to the truth.
Interesting movie. At times I was kind of bored and it dragged on a little, but I think that Oliver Stone had a great idea in mind: to get people to think. The Kennedy assasination was devestating to the entire country- so many believed that he could do so much more. I'm surprised that the government hasn't mad a special effort to find out what really happened. They accused a man- and that was that. It made me think of what our government is really capable of. They can hide anything from us. When I rented the movie and watched the end, I was kind of hoping that since it was a movie it would be a happy ending, but it wasn't. It just ended. Just like the quick investigation in the assasination. I'm interested to see what happens when the records are released.
i think that this movie was just too long and that it seems to me that in the movies story the government killed the president. i think that it was scary how they attacked mr. garrison's job and family. they tried to kidnap his daughter and made him look like a bad guy. this made me think that the government was the one that did the killing even more. i dont see the point in risking his life and his families life trying to find the real killer of the president. you can find the truth maybe, but you and your family could die. also why only JFK and not other presidents if it was the government that killed him???
I was very interested and surprised after seeing the movie jfk. I had no idea that there was such a huge supposed conspiracy theory about the assassination of jfk involving all the major agencies of the government including hierarchy up to the vice president himself. However i also took note that this is a hollywood movie and it's main purpose is to attract attention and controversy which in turn will make tons of money for the makers of the movie. I would be interested to know what oliver stone's background is and where he gathered all of his information for making this movie to get a better idea of his personal agenda that might have conflicted with actual real life facts about the event and details involving it. Overall though i enjoyed the movie and found it pretty interesting although they could have made it a little shorter.
I thought the movie was really good. At first i thought the movie was going to be boring mainly cause I thought it was going to be a biography, but it wasn't. I didn't know much about the Kennedy assassination and after watching this movie I believe that the government had actually had something to do with it. Just because things in Cuba didn't go well that doesn't mean you kill the president. Thats like saying you willing to kill the former president because he got us into stuff that we should have never got in to.
You never know who you can trust, that is mostly what I have gained from the movie. I came into this film with limited background knowledge about JFK. I always understood that Oswald killed him, although I do not think the U.S. Government is a golden boy. There are conspiracy theories practically on every major event that has happened in history, but why are these theories created? It could always be someone trying to get the truth out, but at the same time they could be some quack trying to get their face on a couple magazines. People do and say crazy things all the time, this entire world is skewed. JFK showed new light to the American people, but not all people are open to change. People feel the need to kill and butcher the truth; they can say whatever they want to fit however they want. To walk away from this movie understanding that there is usually more that one part to anything in this world is crucial for life; people need to think outside of themselves in order to escape the lies that suffocate this world everyday.
The movie was very entertaining, i loved the use of the old footage with the use of new. The magic bullet theory is amazing... whoever thought of it a genius, to make a whole nation believe it was true... near the end when it kept showing kenedy was a little uncomfortable. but it was just to prove his point. When you said what we were going to watch I thought it was going to be really boring, but it got me sucked in quite quickly. truely wish we could have finished it.
I thought the movie was extremely hard to get into. Took me almost 2 hours before i actually wanted to see how it ended, ironically we didn't have time to finish. These types of movies always make me wonder. Who is to say what their presenting is legit? They are making a movie trying to tell what they want, or simply to sell a movie ticket. I think anyone who was motivated enough could make a movie saying how JFK own Wife shot him. You submit enough fabricated evidence and anyone could have shot him. No my favorite movie....
It took me a while to get into the movie but once I did I was hooked! I dont know much about this topic so I was pretty willing to accept the ideas behind the movie. Also I love the TV show 24 starring Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Baure, in this show the government is behind tons of crazy stuff that the poeple dont even know about. I mean what the Hell! We want to know. Who knows what the government keeps from us. We dont know the half of what is really going on.
I know I'm passed the deadline but I'm posting anyways. I really liked the movie I never thought about JFK's death in depth like that before. I know everyone always says that the real killer is unknown and now I really think that is true!It just verifies that the government is nuts and they cover up a lot of stuff from us the wonderful people who pay their salaries.
Im past the deadline because you invited me last thursday. Anyways, JFK was a very interesting movie with many new insights that I have never heard of. In my past I have just believed that Lee Harvey Oswald was the assassin of JFK. After seeing this movie it has changed my thoughts a little bit. If Oliver Stones information was based on true facts then there is no way that JFK could have been killed by one person. There is no way that a magic bullet could have gone in and out through a man three different times. That is what I believe. JFK would most definitely make people check their history and be more open to the idea.
I am pissed! I believe everything *giggle giggle* When I watched this movie I was so mad at the government and I believe everything Kevin Costner told me it's completely believeable and why wouldnt the government be phonies? Then when we came back to class and discussed it and Sara pointed out that they're just trying to make a movie I was pissed! She's totally right. This director dude and Kevin Costner are just trying to play with my mind. I've never heard of the magic bullet theory. So now I believe this... Everybody lies to me because I'm gullable. I'm also very pissed because in school all they tell you about that part of history is oh that harvey did it and I'm like whaaat? So I was living my life like Harvey did it but maybe he didn't but maybe he did. What the Hell!
I'm not much of a movie watcher, i need a good action movie to keep things exciting. The beginning was too long and uninteresting. JFK was killed when i was a year old...I have heard of the conspiracy theory but never delved into it further. I believe this was a conspiracy. I also believe the government played a big part in this. Harvey Oswald could not have thought of this elaborate plan on his own, The witnesses that were on the ground, heard and felt the shots behind the wall, and the only people behind the wall were government agents or secret service. I believe the fatal shot was from the ground. The movie showed how JFK's head had snapped in a backward motion, which would mean the bullet entered from the front and exited in the back of the head. Oswald was on the 4th floor of a building shooting down, and behind the motorcade. This event was timed, and planned too well. It just goes to show that the government is capable of anything. If the government can listen in to everyone's conversation and hide an alien ship...go figure.
Sorry this is late i did not receive my invite until two days ago. I didn't have the patience or the tenacity to make it through all of Dave's website. I did however find it strange that he had the motivation to put what seems like a very large amount of work into proving a very small section of society wrong about an issue that is well in the past. Government misinformation campaigns are huge, black ops really exist and that's not to say anything about the validity of JFK's claims, only i found it interesting that a large proportion of the sources quoted by our friend Dave are from the Warren Report. This report was under scrutiny throughout the entire movie. It would be like looking to the 9/11 commission to find out about government involvement. Anyway it's impossible to sift through all of the lies and make a correct assessment. What made it for me was JFK's movements before his head explodes. Either he was choking on a grape and the governor found it of grave importance, or they were being shot at. What amazes me most about the assassination wasn't that the government did it. it was how easy it was for them to say no we didn't. Now this isn't proof that the illumanati is coming all it means is that some very powerful people wanted JFK dead. But the illumanati is probably still coming so watch your back and don't believe everything that you read.
ReplyDeletehmmmm.
ReplyDeleteOh and all that crap about errors.
ReplyDeleteThat quote pretty much sums up my knowledge of the Kennedy Assassination.
ReplyDeleteI like how the movie, while it may not give us the answer to who really assassinated the JFK, can open our eyes.
ReplyDeleteIs this going to be one of those cold cases they'll solve in another fifty years when a detective exumes the shooters DNA from a blade of grass off the nole...
ReplyDeleteI have to say I enjoyed this film on multiple levels. First I enjoyed it from an entertainment standpoint, I was happy that I was able to sit back and watch a movie and not have to think about anything, it kinda formed views and scenarios for you through "facts"
ReplyDeleteSecond, I enjoyed this from a corrupt government point of view.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed watching JFK because i have always wondered exactly what happened. and i guess i will never truly know because there seems to be so many viable stories then of course so many people trying to disprove their story. Throughout the entire movie i kept wondering how the American people could hate our president. and further more, how they could create a plot to kill him. i did think that was very clever with the magic bullet and that makes tons of sense. i think we should start giving our troops magic bullets because that would sure make their lives easier.
ReplyDeleteThe triangulation of a triple cross fire makes great sense but why was there no physical evidence such as casings, or bullet fragments in the car, things of that nature.
ReplyDeleteI just think that this whole movie makes you change your mind about how our goverment works and that there is way more to it then what meets the eye, when they are capible of plotting and killing our president, then you wonder what else has the goverement done that we done know about, what else have they covered?
ReplyDeleteThere are some interesting theories on President Johnson being behind the assassination online.
ReplyDeleteI also enjoyed the way the story was told.
ReplyDeleteThe movie brought out ideas that almost made you think that the government is capable of more things than the general american people assumed.
ReplyDeleteI've always been somewhat curious about the whole assassination bit and "who done it"?
ReplyDeleteWell, let's start by saying that Oliver Stone created a wonderful piece of historical based faction. Let us look at the credits that say that the film is BASED on the books, On the Trail of the Assassins by Jim Marrs and Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy, by
ReplyDeleteJim Garrison, the credits did not say it is a historical recreation with testimony taken from eye-witness accounts compiled for a documentary.
…we’ll see,
Jeremiah
The film, in an entertaining view, is done well. The actors did a great job in it. The musical score was superb. Being the Director's Cut of the film, it was quite long. Perhaps too long. Some parts of the film seemed too slow and some scenes could have been cut out or shortened.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I watched this movie.
ReplyDeleteI like the movie a lot.
ReplyDeleteI thought the movie was really good.
ReplyDeleteSo I thought the show was put together pretty well. The first 45 minutes of the show kind of dragged about for me. But the later parts of it i was pretty interested.
ReplyDeleteWhat little I did know about the JFK assasination before viewing this film was all heresay from what my dad had told me about it.
I thought it was a great movie (despite how long it was)
ReplyDeletei liked the film, but then i read a lot of the stuff that was incorrect. like the whole magic bullet theory. if you haven't followed the link and read about it i would suggest you do so. that doesn't change the fact that i don't think oswald had anything to do with it. the cia just wanted to get rid of their inside man, and what better way to do so than pin jfk's death on him. i mean if that is true, they would know he wouldn't say a thing when he was aressted because he wouldn't want to blow his cover. i have been to the BDB in dallas and there is no way oswald could have made that shot with that crapy rifle.
ReplyDeleteAfter having watched the movie in class and again after renting it I must say that I was very interested in getting as much info on the matter as I could. Right?
ReplyDeleteWhat a long movie!!
ReplyDeleteBefore starting the movie, I thought it was going to be a biography of JFK, WOW, was I wrong.
ReplyDeleteAfter watching JFK, I now understand why it is still such a big issue.
ReplyDeleteI like how this film made us think about what we think and what the facts are.
ReplyDeleteFirst I would like to say that I really enjoyed the movie, yes I agree it was pretty long but sometimes especially in a movie like this, there are just so many details that cannot be left out, which can sometimes create a little bordom.
ReplyDeleteWell what a good movie, i didn't really know that much about the assassination of Kennedy. and i think the reason for Oliver stone making this film was to get people thinking. the government just wanted to close the case after oswald died the guy they accused of shooting kennedy. Great movie

ReplyDeleteMy feelings on jfk The Movie.
ReplyDeleteI knew of the assassination of JFK but I never heard of the conspiracy behind it? I found it interesting that the CIA could be behind it all...I mean no one else beside them could've of pulled off all those cover up and override all those tight safety protocols and precautions that was set forth to insure the President's safety???
ReplyDeleteTo see in the movie the "actual" video footage of the way JFK's head rocked backward and parts of the back of his head blown off from the third fatal shot, alone proves that Oswald couldn't been the only shooter. someone had to have shot him from the front of the car during the distraction!
ReplyDeleteThe movie, has a great place in the overall story of the assassination of John F.
ReplyDeleteThe movie was extremely long.
ReplyDeleteJFK.
ReplyDelete(In the history, the killing of leaders by some group of people in order to achieve their goal are frequent in history.
ReplyDeleteI thought the movie was WAY too long, and the beginning of the movie was really boring.
ReplyDeleteI had mixed emotions on this movie. On one hand, it thoroughly explained a different view on the Kennedy assassination. on the other hand, it was a very long drawn out movie. the movie and the website both raised the question of "who is a credible source to explain the assassination?"
ReplyDeletei came into this movie only knowing that Kennedy was assassinated and that Oswald was the one credited with his death. the movie did arouse the questions of Kennedy's death, but it went about it in such a way that left me wondering where they received their information.
overall this was a good movie that needed to be shortened down to keep viewers interested.
Oliver Stone’s JFK is significant not because it challenges the accepted explanations of the November assassination, but because it highlights our cultural fascination and romanticization of conspiracy, murder and abuse of governmental powers.
ReplyDeleteThe film is well crafted and entertaining, but as emphasized by the JFK 100 (which I begin to wonder how thoroughly previous posters have examined), more fiction than truth; as a commercially successful filmmaker, Stone is well aware of the power of controversy to sell a story.
It's crazy!
ReplyDeletebefore i read other posts i think that i should write mine.
ReplyDeleteI have read a little about the JFK assassination before I watched the movie.
ReplyDeleteI thoroughly enjoyed this movie, although it did seem to drag at some parts in the beginning and toward the middle.
ReplyDeleteInteresting movie.
ReplyDeleteErin Bitters
i think that this movie was just too long and that it seems to me that in the movies story the government killed the president. i think that it was scary how they attacked mr. garrison's job and family. they tried to kidnap his daughter and made him look like a bad guy. this made me think that the government was the one that did the killing even more. i dont see the point in risking his life and his families life trying to find the real killer of the president. you can find the truth maybe, but you and your family could die. also why only JFK and not other presidents if it was the government that killed him???
ReplyDeleteI was very interested and surprised after seeing the movie jfk.
ReplyDeleteI thought the movie was really good.
ReplyDeleteYou never know who you can trust, that is mostly what I have gained from the movie.
ReplyDeleteThe movie was very entertaining, i loved the use of the old footage with the use of new.
ReplyDeleteI thought the movie was extremely hard to get into.
ReplyDeleteIt took me a while to get into the movie but once I did I was hooked!
ReplyDeleteI know I'm passed the deadline but I'm posting anyways. I really liked the movie I never thought about JFK's death in depth like that before. I know everyone always says that the real killer is unknown and now I really think that is true!It just verifies that the government is nuts and they cover up a lot of stuff from us the wonderful people who pay their salaries.
ReplyDeleteIm past the deadline because you invited me last thursday.
ReplyDeleteI am pissed!
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a movie watcher, i need a good action movie to keep things exciting.
ReplyDeleteSorry this is late i did not receive my invite until two days ago.
