  1. The big, fat, stupid white-man strikes again. I truly empathize with whoever wrote that book on him... It had to be an arduous task. To write a whole book on someone you dislike. With that, I will end this blog. I don't want to waste my time on the fat fruit-cake.

I tell myself that if I ever see him in person, I'll hock up a logi and spit in his face, for making my nation look bad, and making money off of America's despair. (He probably gets that a lot).

Here I am, wasting my time with hate. (Guess that's how the author did it... Probably Moore, too).

  2. Sensationalism, there are many important questions raised in Fahrenheit 9/11, although I feel like Mr. Moore is doing a service. By lying or distorting facts it casts a shadow over the real issues raised in the movie that legitimately need addressing. I have a real distaste for war marketing and believe in war only as a last resort. There is enough real information about the follies of the Iraq war, that fabrication is unnecessary and didn't help to advance the plot. The funniest part of the movie was that people found it surprising.
James Madison is generally considered the architect of our constitution and the one most responsible for the American system of government. The Major difference between James Madison and Thomas Jefferson was that Jefferson was in favor of a truly democratic society. Madison on the other hand believed that the average American was not knowledgeable enough to direct the nation. A statement that I don't entirely disagree with. Therefor a system was developed to protect the ones in power and shelter them from the judgment of an uninformed public. For more related information refer to the Federalist Papers.
The Bush administration did not pioneer behind the scenes relationships. Sorry to disappoint those who voted for Barrack Obama but one of his first moves as president was to appoint Tony Blair to head of national intelligence. You may remember him from the movie, he was the one with his head transposed over a wild west cowboy's body along with George Bush and Dick Chenney. For his resume you can look at our relationship with India during their conflict with East Timor.
As for Terrorism I agree with his conclusion. Terrorism is used as a tactic to unite the public under a particular cause. 3000 people died in the towers, drugs kill more people than that everyday, a large portion of those drugs coming through Mexico, yet we still can't find a way to close the borders. We spend billions suppressing drug producing countries but enforcing our own borders is an impossible task. Anyway maybe a look at the way our government functions is more important question than who screwed up.

  4. George W. Bush, leader, or holder of a grand title? President of the United States of America.... Michael Moore's Farenheit 9/11 gets into the facts Americans are wanting to know. What was George Bush really doing when all of this was going down...?
Photo ops, golfing, chilling with the bad guys, killing off our troops with what reason for war? Yes, the events of 9/11 were bad, but why instill false fear into the hearts of Americans to make your point. So lets see, in order for Bush to be a good president and seem like he was doing his job, he had to lie to America? I think when you have troops saying that they don't even know why they are fighting, that is reason enough to know that our President didn't even know what the hell was going on. I know, lets attack a country that doesn't even bother us, kill their innocent, and then go to royal balls and banquets! Hooray Hooray!

  5. michael moore is the most briliant person in the entire world. I have no idea why he hasn't run for president cause I would definately vote for him. the views he expressed in this film were dead on. he couldn't have passed on the message of the movie more clearly. totally briliant film.

  6. Ok I have to support this show in some way, so here goes. Did Saddam Hussein have weapons of mass destruction currently?
Saddam Hussein have used chemical weapons in the past against both combatants and civilians on the 1980s, however they have found no evidence that Iraq had tried to reconstitute its capability to produce nuclear weapons after 1991; no evidence of biological weapon (BW) agent stockpiles or of mobile biological weapons production facilities; and no substantial chemical warfare (CW) stockpiles or credible indications that Baghdad had resumed production of CW after 1991."
So the question we all asked is why did President Bush come out on the TV saying to our nation that they had, when he knew that there was no evidence yet been found?

  7. Thank you dallon_t88 and achild. dallon_t88 could use at least one statistic or source cited as achild did...and achild needed to skip the statement "Ok I have to support this show in some way...".

You ALL need to remember what the purpose of this class was when we did the exercise at the beginning of the semester. This is not the place to simply review the movie. This is not the place to simply rant unsupported bilge. There is a reason that I provide the links for you to review! IF you don't learn this you WILL be unpleasantly surprised when the you see your grade at the end of the semester.

  8. This movie was great with the variety of examples of stupity... our former president doesn't watch his mouth and often blabbers out the first and only unintelligent thing he says... come on.. how many times did he say "we'll smoke `em out!" yup thats his answer for everything...

Also, I realize that his point of view of the military recruits being the lowest of the low and crazy, poor kids just wanting to fire a gun, was right on. I thought Moore's clip about the soliders and their music yelling, "Let the mother F%#*er burn!" was a very emotional scene. Also I thought that he portrayed the real suffering of those men and women who have lost limbs and who also suffer from PSTD, very well. War is a very tragic thing and has affected our country in a negative way.
I'm not sure why we went to war but Moore's explaination of Bush's desire for an oil line makes sense. Also how come the Bush family was photographed so many times with Saudi Arabia? There has to be something going on... and from the looks of it, it wasn't in favor of the country.

  9. I’m glad that I’m not the only one, living in fear of a phantom. What the hell is terror? If it doesn’t have a face, how we going to smoke it out. As far as I know, you can’t smoke something out that doesn’t exist and as far as I know, you have to exist to have lungs. Bush’s eight year terror campaign was over kill. I was desensitized after the first year. What terrorizes me is having to listen to scare tactics for eight years. His administration reminds me of the movie V.
Heit brought up a lot of good questions that need to be answered. Like his affiliations with oil. These issues need to be disclosed still even though he’s an ex president. Future home land security depends on it.
As for liberating Iraq to democracy. It needs to happen from the inside out; it can’t come from the out side. There culture is ingrained in them woven in there souls. If the US plans on making Iraq a republic, plan on being over there for another 10,000 years just to get to par.

  11. Ok I have to say that Michael Moore is the most brilliant person ever!! His movie defiantly portrays the truth that the American people searched for. There are a lot of questions that arise when watching this show, such as And Did Saddam Hussein really have weapons of mass destruction and was our leader really doing photo ops, golfing, kick in’ it with the bad guys, killing off our troops with no reason or any fair evidence for war, etc? The answer is Yes, the events of 9/11 were devastating, but why portray false fear into the hearts of Americans to make your point? The way I see it is that in order for Bush to be a good president and to seem like he knew what he was doing, he had to lie to America? Wow GREAT JOB!! I think its funny that our own troops were saying that they didn't even know what their purpose was for fighting, that for me is reason enough to realize that our President had no idea what was going on with our own country. As far as Saddam Hussein having weapons of mass destruction, I agree with achild There was no substantial evidence to prove this theory, yes Saddam Hussein had used chemical weapons in the past, against both combatants and civilians in the 1980s, but America found no solid evidence that Iraq was trying to reconstitute their capabilities to produce nuclear weapons after 1991; no evidence of biological weapon (BW) agent stockpiles or of mobile biological weapons production facilities; and no substantial chemical warfare (CW) stockpiles or credible indications that Baghdad had resumed production of CW after 1991."
Which then leads us as Americans to ask another question. Why did president Bush really go to war with Iraq? Was it because of the oil? More of the points made lead to that being the real answer, and that 9/11 was just his excuse to attack.I personally think that it was the case since his father went to war with them during his presidency. Its just unfair to our citizens because they were lied to and certaintly unfair for our troops because really what exactly is WAR ON TERROR?

  12. Finally we have someone with the nerve, money, dedication, and concern enough to address this national crisis head on. Michael Moore has shown, spoken and revealed the tip of the iceberg in terms of Bush government corruption. This documentary has well illustrated the various cover ups, crooked relationships, corruption, and greed that permeated the majority of the Bush Administration. The fact that Bush decided to strike where and how he did clearly shows where his allegiance lies. Why in the world would you ever allow those who are directly related to the men responsible for 911 to be among the first out of the nation? And why would he completely disregard the fact that the majority of the men responsible for the attacks were Saudi. Wouldn’t you think a more reasonable counter attack would be against Saudi Arabia? Then why wasn’t this heard of? Apparently the relationship between those in the oil cartel and the Bush administration was strong enough to preclude any thought of attacking the hand that fed them. So why Afghanistan? (a)Easy fight,(b)just enough of a tie to Al Qaeda to justify it(c)Attention diversion from the Saudi's(d)all of the above? (d) Is the correct answer. Why Iraq?(a)Our own residual oil supply.(b)Just enough of a tie to Al Qaeda to justify it.(c) Daddies would be assassin’s head on a platter(or in a rope).(d) All of the above. Again (d) is the proper answer. The fact that Bush clearly had no idea what to do or how to do it is so obvious in the way he was continually stuttering, mumbling, babbling and speechless about the whole situation is apparent. He must have been sitting there in that classroom about to crap his pants and wondering how he was going to orchestrate his next move considering that he had just been stabbed in the back by his biggest donors (the Saudi's).I'm glad Michael has been able to expose a lot of these corrupt relationships and to remind us once again that "the love of money is the root of all evil".

  13. I am glad that Moore showed us that our government isn't as amazing as it is cracked up to be. It seems as though the majority of people here think that our nation is so perfect and awesome, and I think Moore did a fantastic job showing the problems that are in it especially the issue with 9/11. They also say he is anti-American by what he does with his films. I think he is a very patriotic person, trying to fix the problems in this country by doing it with films. If I were to meet him I would not spit on him or anything, but say thank you for pointing out the flaws in our system so that we can maybe fix it and make this country even better than it already is.
In the link that we were sent to, I found that Congressman Dennis Kucinich from Ohio said that there is no doubt that our involvement in Iraq is over oil. There are people in our administration who are in the oil industry and know that the oil over there will be very beneficial to oil industry and themselves. I find this to be very true, because in my opinion during the whole 9/11 issue we were focused on Osama and then bam we are in Iraq fighting against Saddam. There was something very fishy going on during that time and administration and I think Moore exploited them, which is why they made the other film to try and take away his credibility.
Another reason I feel Moore was correct in saying that we went to war with Iraq over oil, was that a United Nations Inspector who went over to check on these so called biological weapons said that there were no biological agents. Where as the CIA said that there were. So do we not believe the United Nations Inspector? We should believe the CIA of course, but when we watched the JFK film, most people were saying you can't trust your government for what they tell you, but with this we can?
This film brought up alot of flaws in our government and the Main goal Moore has is trying to fix these problems. Moore showed us the part of war that the government is not showing us, The side of death. Oh, and the pay they receive for fighting for our country which should be raised.
The best part of the movie was when Moore went to try and get congressmen to enlist their children into the armed forces. I find it funny that we were so eager to go to war, but all the children of those in power did not go.
I will end by saying that we should not all believe 100% of what is said in this film, but listen to what he is trying to show us. Just like every single film made it is not 100% correct, but that does not mean we can not learn from it. This film can help this country, and I believe it already has for those who took into account the issues and not the Big Fat White Guy opinions.

  14. I have to say that who thought that our government was amazing. Democracy is the absolute worst form of government, except for all those other ones. And since when would anyone trust Bush all he has done was sacrifice civil liberties for supposed protection. But by sacrificing, hell by being afraid we let the terrorists win. Now not acting might not be the solution but what we did was create a larger problem, one that has a good chance to spiral out of control. No one is questioning the soliders bravery or saying that America is corrupt. What is being said is that the leaders are, and if we impeached Clinton for lying about BJ's what should we do to the President who lies to start a war?

  16. I thought that there were some good points that he brought up that if he didn’t bring to are attention we would probably never now. I have to agree that the attack on the twin towers was a tragedy, But there were some fishy thing about how the towers fells and some of the surrounding buildings. If you look at a demolition of a building and notice how it fell the towers look very similar. If you research the reports about the pentagon there were evidence of a plane or bodies that would have been in a plane. It could have been a boom or a missile we may never now. It is a little disturbing to think about that but some times you have to wonder how our government truly thinks about us. It not the first time that you have heard about people in the government that has ties to companies that the government gives jobs too! You can look at the spending of our current president does he have ties to any of the companies that are in the bill? You never now how someone is on the inside.

  17. Whether you like michael more or not you have to respect his dedication on making his point. He has said so many things about his views and really sells them. The biggest thing i agree with him on is that war is bad. It brings no good, its ugly and is the face of evil in our world. It is sad that we as a nation are in the position we are in. Many peoples lives are forever changed, not just in our nation but in the nation we invaded. Uprooting lives and the collateral damage is under estimated. Innocent people are killed every day in this war and to no fault of their own become another victim in this fight that seems to be never ending with little positives coming about. I plead the fifth on whether i believe we had a choice in the war, but will say no matter what war should be the absolute last options and its effects are so dramatic and tragic.

  18. Yep, the movie I could see opened up a lot of peoples eyes!!! It opened my eyes up a little, but just a little. I thought in the first place it was a little sketchy how both the twin towers fell minutes apart from each other. Moore also said that Bush was on vacation for the first seven months he was in office which wasnt right I dont think. Who knows if the government was involved in any of it but it is definatly a part of american history!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Well... My favorite part of the movie was when bush was told that america was under attack, and he just sat there. Everybody says what was he supposed to do? If he would have got up and ran out everyone would have panicked. Ok first of all, he was supposed to be the president. Get up excuse yourself and leave, then do something! anything is better than sitting there. And it was an elementary school class, not a high school class, the kids would not have panicked.
i also hate the people that are all "you aint an american if you don't like the president, you god damned comunist bastard!" "if you don't like america you can get out!" I had a conversation with someone a while back about being a patriot. His definition was someone who is willing to defend their country. I would have to dissagree and say that it is someone who is willing to defend their country against their own government.

  20. I think that Michael Moore showed a lot of good tips that Americans have never thought about. I agree with Moore that war is bad. I have always hated war!! Bush was having U.S. troops going into a country not even knowing for sure if Benladen was even there. We were attacking innocent people. Women and children were getting blown to pieces and having there whole town destroyed from our country. That gives them the right to come and bomb our country and kill our people that are innocent. In a way they did, but not as bad as we did to them. I thought it was a BAD mistake and I dont even know if Bush realizes it. Plus I agree with Moore that Bush was caught one to many time playing golf and not working. This movie definitly opened up my eyes. I always thought that Bush was a really good president. After this movie I realize that he did hurt our country in a time of need.

  22. This is the great about our political system and free speech of Michael Moore telling us about how bad the Pres. Bush were. It is not so bad for some one to get critics about us. I think make people who have high authority respect and used power that they have more responsible. Bush Administration knew that they were watching by real terrorist (mean American people) when American people sick and tries by lose trust in them. How much American have to suffering and feel so ignorances? By now, We need more fires in them, to work for not only the interest groups but as the all citizens. My Question is why president don't tell the true to Americans people? He and his admiration might not know the hidden agenda. But He is ultimate responsible for this, is he? Why he allow the personal conflict of interests to his office. If he knew when he made the oath the nation and American people. he is not modestly conservative and stand by the principles of constitution. Only greed and power for big multi corporations. It true that he own oil company. I know for the fact, that middle east like Saudi Arabia. In matter of fact was Saudi Arabia embassy worry about some dudes come the attack the embassy build, What is so disturbed and wrong about film near the embassy. It is only two face same evil man corrupting and taking turn abuse citizen.

  23. The thing I like about Moore is he takes the bold steps necessary to show the American people what the government really doesn't want you to see. That takes some guts because of the repercussions that could lash back at him. I enjoyed his boldness of approaching the people that sit in our congress to petition them for signing their children up for the war. He should've asked the children but I see the point in his method. I think that his portrayal of war is very accurate, which is to say, that its very very negative and thats what everyone needs to know. Nothing good ever really comes from it. Theres always a winner and a loser.

  24. Thank you Michael Moore! You have showed the world what a tyrant George W. Bush is/was. You have brought light to all of us.

How dare a president sit idly by while our country was under attack to sit around with a bunch of elementary school kids reading a book about a hillbilly lover, I mean goat.

How dare he take multiple vacations when our country needed attention. He invaded a beatuiful land of gumdrops and rainbows, where children fly kites and sing. George W. Bush brought war to a peaceful, family-oriented country. You can clearly see how much our presence has disrupted their happy way of life.

How dare he leave soldiers incapacitated that went to fight for such an evil cause. These are men and women willing to risk their lives for our lust for oil and never ask questions.

We are a terrible country and George W. Bush is the cause of all iniquity from the beginning of time!

Thank you Mr. Moore for finally showing us how terrible a man George W. Bush is!!

  25. Now, Mr. Moore knows how to make a movie. I have never enjoyed the bush administration so much. Michael Moore showed everyone what a true doofus President Bush really is. Oh and he showed us with classy songs too.

I really enjoyed this movie. Michael Moore opened my eyes to facts I never realized. I never liked George Bush and his friends very much but had a hard time explaining why to my friends, but now I know how.

George Bush is a frightened little boy acting out his fathers revenge. You can see from the comment at the beginning of the movie when Michael Moore tried to ask Bush a question and bush told him to get a job, you can see the Bush is afraid of him. If he is not hiding anything why would he be afraid? Because he is hiding things.

Thank the heavens though his reign of terror is over and Michael Moore can show us the history so we don't make the same mistakes again in the future.

  26. Michael Moore is a genius. This film really portrays the truth about what a biography on our stupid president should be like. Thank goodness for people like michael moore who really have the guts to stand up and show to all the people what the facts are about the war and the Bush administration. I totally agree with him that the war has gone to far.
I am pretty sure that a guy like micheal moore has pretty good resources which would make me believe that his research has a lot of truth in it. I loved this film and believe that micheal moore got the award he deserved.

  27. Michael Moore is a dedicated film maker, proof of that is in this film. Mr. Moore is able to depict correctly, that President Bush was not professionally fit to be leading the country. In a modern age of diplomacy, President Bush failed to act diplomatically and resorted to war as an opportunity for nationwide profit at the cost of American lives. The film also did an outstanding job of portraying a family’s point of view on the war before and after their son was killed in Iraq. It is because of films like Fahrenheit 9/11 that many Americans began to question the real purpose of invading Iraq, it definitely has helped me to look at the war from a different perspective. To conclude, I thought the film was very well made and Mr. Moore deserves credit for his accomplishment. There aren’t many directors’ that can produce a film that will change people’s views and I think that this is one of those films that did just that.

  28. I thought that this film brought a real aura of insight and it can really help open the eyes of the ignorant and naive to the corruption of the world and the battle for gain and money. That is what most everything in the world is based on, unfortunately.

This film was good at creating a feeling of betrayal and it really did sway me to believe a lot of things. Obviously all is not true. But if the government can pull off a stunt like JFK why would they not be able to deceive us here as well. I really wanted to puch Presidant Bush in the face. really hard!!!!

I think that the point of the movie was well presented and kept me entertained and to question many of the political thoughts I had.

  29. this film put a good view on what happened prior to the USA invading Iraq. michael moore did make a good point on how george bush had spent a large portion of august on vacation on his ranch. another good point michael moore made was that only ONE senator had a son or daughter in the military. if more of congress had a more direct tie to the war they may have taken more time with their decisions toward the war.

  30. Being a very sensitive subject, I think Michael Moore did a very good job with this show. Being able to say what he wants, he went out, and tried to inform the public of what we didn't know and what we deserved to know. Many people lost lives, loved ones and friends because of this tragedy. And all the while, Bush, the so called leader of the country for the passed 8 years would not come out and say exactly what he was doing or not doing to solve this.

As stated in the movie, We were attacked by Bin Laden, he admits it and then we turn and invade Iraq, which we knew he wasn't there. Stating they had wepons of "mass destruction." Oddly enough we found nothing. I would say that they should have invaded us because i would consider Bush as a "Weapon of mass destruction"

Moore was simply giving information that was not released to us prior to this movie. I had no idea where Bush was, or what he was doing at the time of this event. I just knew that he took forever to do something about it, and we are still cleaning up the mess from his actions.

  31. I totally agree with this film on how our government cannot be trusted. It makes me feel unsafe and I feel like the government is hiding things from the public. I think Michael Moore makes a great point in the movie about how men and women in the government won't send their kids off to war but they encourage everyone else too.

  32. I must say that Fahrenheit 9/11 is quite an enjoyable film. Even if not all of Michael Moore's facts are right he did make a movie that can make a person laugh, be disgusted, and get people to think outside the box. In all seriousness my favorite part was actually with the Marine Corps recruiters out and about getting contacts. In Fahrenhype 9/11 there was some guy that said that part really bothered him and that recruiters aren't like that. Well let me tell you when I joined the Marine Corps back in 2002. The Marine Corps recruiters definitely were like that if you had a skill or an interest they would jump on how the Marine Corps could help you with that skill. The recruiters aren't lying though if you are an awesome musician or basketball player you can be in the Marine Corps band or play on the Marine Corps basketball team. Marine Corps recruiters main job is to recruit and they will adapt and overcome to accomplish their mission.

Also when you see Fahrenheit 9/11 compared to Fahrenhype 9/11 they act like the people in the military are portrayed totally messed up. Well I would say they are not. Of the four years I spent on active duty in the Marine Corps and the time I spent in Iraq I would say that 45 percent of the people in the military are complete douche bags. The majority of the people in the military are awesome and stellar but there is a large percentage that are lame and stupid as one can get.

As for my personal side I agree with Michael Moore that we should not of went to war with Iraq but my reasons are different than his. But other than that the movie I thought was good it was definitely entertaining, he chose good music for the scenes and in what other movie or footage do you get to see your countries leaders as normal human beings who need to where makeup and get prepped for TV. We got to see people as they really are and portrayed in a way we usually never do.

Its a good film it serves Michael Moores political agenda's and what is more American than saying and doing whatever you want.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Michael Moore is using this filme to show what is his point of view on the War in Iraq. Very true indeed. What's American invaded Iraq for? The US government keep saying that the US given Iraq freedom and democracy. But in my point of view, this war is all just for oil, brought the chaos to the Iraq, and step up an another puppet government in the conquered territory. This is the true American democracy. By forcing other "democracy" nations to do whenever the US says and wants. (No offence)
Lets just hope President Obama's new policy is not as aggressive as Bush's, and hope President Obama can cool down the hate in the Middle East.
The US cannot always bossy around the world.

  34. I support Micheal Moore! I love how he showed us why I beloved USA is now hated by foreign countries and how President Bush ran us down the gutter by ruining our foreign diplomacy with them.
How can we let a man who spent more time on vacations then he did in the White House run our nation...? When it comes to letting us know how our nation is doing He only gave out a handful of "public address to the Nation" in the last 8 years. Obama has given at least six since he's been in office!
War is a pain that no one should ever have to endure for too long, most of our soldiers have fought bravely and did their time, now it's time to send them back to the family and friends.
President should have paid more attention to the welfare of our own nation and it's fragile economic stability...hmm may be we should go to war with another country to stimulate our economy and get us out of this deep recession that we're in.

  35. After viewing Michael Moore's movie I agreed with the aspect that there are unanswered questions dealing with 9/11.What I don't understand is how people can deem him as "un-creditable" when he had done his research and had spoke to congress members as reliable sources and it was listed right under their face while they were speaking. What part of that is not creditable? Agreeing with a blog entry previously posted, all Moore is doing is trying to get the information that wasn't issued to the American people and show them that the government isn't flawless...it has it's mistakes and it's the way that they're handled a majority of the time that presents even more questions as why didn't the government do this or why didn't the government do that instead? It almost, to me, makes me more political and really look in to who we are electing into congress and that it is a democracy and with that being said, we want someone to represent us and speak up and stand up for what we believe in, not just the status quo. Overall, I did enjoy the movie and you know, there is nothing wrong with asking questions and trying to get answers. Until someone does their own research can they really have a valid opionion formed or it's (as mentioned in class) simply noise.

  36. Every time I turn my television on, at least once a week I see CNN adds another number to the U.S. soldier casualties in Iraq. The total number of casualties is up to 4,255 soldiers (U.S. Department of Defense) with 26 already this year (2009). Now answer me this Fahrenhype9/11: is this another statistic that Michael Moore simply edited and made up? We are losing moms, dads, brothers, sisters, and friends in the last couple years that the war has been progress.

In the movie Fahrenheit 9/11 the most uncomfortable and emotional scene was seeing the young Iraqi boy laying motionless on the gravel with his arm and leg bloody torn apart by the deadly conflict occurring around him. Was this scene also edited and misconstrued by Moore? If it was, WOW… Speilberg has a lot note taking to do.

The medical journal, The Lancet reports there has been about 1.3 MILLION Iraqi deaths since the U.S. took over Iraq in March of 2003. I was very surprised to find out how many lives this war has cost. But the fact that surprised me more was the fact that this number is at least 10 times greater than most estimates reported in the U.S. media (foreignpolicy.org). In his documentary, Michael Moore is simply reporting facts the media wants to hide from Americans! Americans need to know the truth.

Moore: “Senator, would you like to fill this form out to send your son/daughter to the army?”

Senator: “Ummm…” [Surprised look, followed by angry stare as he frantically walks away.]

This was the most entertaining scene from Michael Moore’s film. The senators didn’t even know how to respond to Moore’s question. They looked at him like if he was crazy. Their puzzled faces were more than enough to understand the outlook of the U.S. Iraq War.

  37. This movie provided some very factual evidence towards the war in Iraq and the pro war policies of the Bush administration. In the film Moore exposes many of the reasons why Bush and his friends would want to send our country to war, which is easy for them to say because as Moore showed none of the senators or governors or whoever it was he asked was unwilling to send their own child of to a war, a war which they knew was only for profit. According to Collin Powell "Sanctions exist...for the purpose of keeping in check Saddam Hussein's ambitions toward developing weapons of mass destruction" he continues claiming that these sanctions have effectively kept Saddam in check. "He has not developed any significant capability with respect to weapons of mass destruction. He is unable to project conventional power against his neighbors."

  38. "Any war we launch in Iraq will certainly be -- in part -- about oil. To deny that is laughable.

This statement made by Thomas L. Friedman is so true. The movie fahrenheit 9/11 went deeper into the obvious fact that George Bush might have other reasons to go to Iraq but a huge one is for their oil. We are one of the top oil using nations in the world. Why wouldn't we want to have control of one of the best oil producing areas? Politics is money. Oil is money. Bush wants money. That's all this whole charade is about. I'm so glad this movie had all the facts layed out perfectly so we could see how much of a big scandal it all is.

  39. Several things come to mind when I watched Farenheit 9/11. The film pointed out several areas of the Bush Administration that were questionable. Im going to touch on a few things that I feel were undeniabley true. But as instructed, do not take my word for it, look at the links provided and come to your own conclusions.

The war in Iraq was something that the U.S. government have been itching to engage in since they didnt successfully accomplish in removing Saddam Huessein from power in the Gulf war back in 1991. The attacks of september 11th made Saddam Huessein the perfect scapegoat for these attacks.

A man by the name of George Tenet, former CIA director, released a book in May of 2007 called, "At the center of the storm." This book goes into detail of how the Al-qaida were behind the September 11th attacks and not Saddam Huessein.

Why did we go to war with Iraq then? A week after the attacks of 9/11 Bush met with his top advisors, one of which was a man by the name of Paul Wolfowitz who was the deputy secretary of defense at the time seemed to be "fixated on including Iraq in any sort of U.S. response." Another advisor,Richard Perle, chairman of the president’s Defense Policy Board Advisory Committee said the day after the attacks, before anybody really had any real solid evidence of who was involved in the attacks, "Iraq has to pay a price for what happened yesterday. They bear responsibility," Tenet quotes Perle as saying.

Now I agree with the fact that it was a good thing to remove saddam from power, I do not agree with the government making false claims against Saddam saying he was the one who was involved with the attacks of 9/11. The U.S. is now suffering the consequences because a few select men in high places made some decisions so that they might recieve gain while the rest of us deal with a war that is being faught against the wrong people. Lives, Money, and Time have all been wasted. None of which we will ever get back.

  40. Michael Moore did a very good job of getting his point across. In the documentary he made everyone really open their eyes to what Bush was really doing. With all of his friendships and shipping all of the Saudi's out right after 9/11- I had no idea. There are many things that the government hides, that we as American's have the right to know about. Michael Moore did a good job at putting the facts together and letting the American people know what the government tries to hide.

  41. Fahrenheit 9-11 had a few good points about Bush’s term in office. Al Gore did receive more of the popular vote. Gore received 50,999,897 votes while bush received 50,456,002 giving him over 500,000 more of the popular vote. Yet he only received 266 of the electoral vote while bush received 271. This happened because Bush won a lot of the less populated states by a close margin while Gore won the more populated states. Also if you look at the results at http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0876793.html you will notice that Florida, the state that decided the election was settled by less than 600 votes. One of the controversies that came from this was the 70000 votes that were rejected by machine counters. Gore wanted a recount so the votes could be counted but on December 12 the recount was rejected by the Supreme Court. That decision basically gave the election to Bush.

  42. Ok I forgot we had to post a comment in support of this film, so here it goes. I'm not really sure what Micheal Moore was trying to do with this movie but he did succeed in starting a dialogue. Now it's a mistake to take anything stated in this movie as fact and i don't believe that was included in the assignment, so I won't. The images of Iraq after the "Shock and Aww" campaign were very compelling. Micheal Moore managed to put a face on what, up until that MOVIE, had been a faceless war. It's very to sit in our living room and forget that there are actually people on the other end of the bullets. How's that for supportive.

  43. I was so happy I finally got to see this movie! I have heard so much about it and had just never gotten around to seeing it. Screw our government all they are are scared greedy people who care about nothing and no one else but themselves. This is shown perfectly when Michael Moore asks the members of congress if they would enlist any of their kids and they just walk away. What Bullshit!! Every other family can worry and mourn every damn day as long as its not you right...wrong!
So the last place we here about Osama being is in Afganistan then why do we invade Iraq? Smart right. I know every American wants to get back at them for what they did on 9/11 I'm right there with you but lets get our facts right first before we go and kill all those innocent people who are already fighting to live anyways. I'm just as happy as everyone else that the dumbass Bush is out of toffice hopefully we get the change we need. Then more families won't need to suffer in any way shape or form cause believe you me it hurts no matter what the outcome is.

  45. Someone who is finally not afraid to expose the truth about that horrific day. The Bushes had this all planed out with the intent to pad all their colleagues fucking pockets. As an American I feel betrayed and as a person I’m upset that we had to loose so many innocent lives. There are a lot of critics out there who might say Michael Moore is a radical but what about the facts. There’s no way that a fire alone could make those towers collapse there were made of reinforced steel and steel would not melt under the heat of a fire like that. This can only mean one thing. Fuckin EXPLOSIVES. People open your eyes all the experts agree that only explosives could topple a building like that. There have been countless eye witness 188 to be exact says the The New York Fire Department’s oral histories project states that they all hear other “bangs” after the planes hit and just before the buildings fell. And how did the plane that crashed into the Pentagon just incinerate there are just too many holes in this whole thing. Finally why would we go invade a country that had absolutely nothing to do with these attacks? I know why. War and the president’s friends were knee deep in the industry and everyone got paid very very well and we still haven’t caught Osama. I don’t believe for one second that Bush couldn’t have found this guy by now. Again I’m just happy some decided to bring the truth to the forefront.

  46. Thank you michael moore for being the only film maker to have the balls to state the truth!! and way to go bush!!! being president isnt enough, no you had to go invade a country that had nothing to do with the sept 11 attacks, for their 5,000,000,000,000 worth of oil. and seeing how countless numbers of your administration and yourself are involed in the oil buisness.

Thats all this whole thing was to bush, a big huge fat paycheck. how much did you make? im guessing enough to feed all of the third country starving people in the rest of the world for the next 50 years. oh yeah thats right i forgot you had to buy a beach house in florida, another ranch in texas, who knows what bush bought with all of his new aquired money. the fact is that the oil industry would benifit from an invasion in iraq.
if everyone has already forgotten, let me remind you that last summer in utah we were paying 4 dollars a gallon. when i went to lake powell i paid almost 7. 7 dollars a gallon!!!! why?!?!?!? so bush could make money.

why is it that we have one of the largest oil reserves in the world in alaska and we cant tap into it? we have to go kill innocent civilians just for control of the oil there.

im just going to be the first to say that bush is a genious for devising this whole plan to capitalize off of americans sorrow and suffering for thosse lost in the attacks on 9/11.

  47. i think that mr moore pointed out a very important point that many people have been missing. dreams, we all have them and bush had a dream too. to become president like his father, but unlike many of our dreams, this dream comes at a high price. you see bush has many friends in high places with lots of money, partly because of the money of his family and the business that they are in, but also because of his fathers previous presidency. i too would like to follow in my dads footsteps if i were W. but you see here that he wasn't and still isn't capable of maintaining or acquiring this position alone. as moore pointed out there is quite a lot of conspiracy around his election into office and that is where his family and friends come in. with the money and the clout that they as a family have W was sure that he could get most of the votes he needed, but with family controlling Florida he would have an ace in the hole if he wasn't quite close enough. he needed it didn't he, as we see in the film despite a great deal of evidence showing that W was not the winner o Florida, he came out on top with the help of his constituents. so what happened after that, 6 months of time off to celebrate and then payback. everything in life comes with a price attached. i paid 2 bucks for the milk i got at the store the other day. the price for power and prestige is quite a bit higher. we heard a lot of testimony that points out that W knew that there was a plan to terrorize the US and its citizens, but this was an opportunity for payback not to be missed, so all intel was put on the back burner till the moment passed. as for the international backing that W had, it came from the Saudis and that too came with a price, they wanted to get rid of some of their competition, but they couldn't do it alone. if they could get bush to help though it could make them all much richer and help by giving all of them a considerable amount of leverage in the middle east that they didn't have before. they just needed to get rid of Saddam!!!! before that though W needed to take care of some of his backers at home. to do this he pointed his smoking barrel of guilt towards the afghan peoples as harboring Osamabin laden. thus we took out the government that we didn't like and put in our own puppet government. money and greed. next W went for the prize, Iraq. we have many reports stating that Saddam was not an immediate threat and that we shouldn't have gone after him. if you look at www.procon.org you can see that Iraq was not able to commit the actions that would have required immediate American intervention.

  48. What kind of man is michael moore? He's what our grandparents might call a "go getter." He sees something he wants and he goes and gets it. Fortunately for us, he shares his findings, and he does it in such an entertaining, funny but very insightful way. I alway knew George W. Bush was an idiot, I just didn't know what was behind the moronic facial expressions and incredibly horrible grammer. Some say that's just Texas, I say that's just George.

He always seemed to me, to be a very selfish president, so it was no supprise to me that in a time of crisis in the world that the one man we expected to lead us would actually profit from the worlds sorrow and greaf. I am sure with each tear shed all he could hear was cha ching!!! Michael Moore exposed the man for who he really is, but in one aspect I guess it's americas fault in some part for electing him not once, but twice.

After seeing the part of the film where they bombed baghdad I felt almost ashamed to be an american. We are a country that prides itself in the protection and happiness of others, not the satisfaction in total annihilation of innocent people. The man is totally incompitent and was never fit for the oval office. But as americans we are known to be survivors and we have survived. the movie really opened to my eyes and allowed me to see really for the first time how low america became because of him and his selfishness.

  49. Moore sets the tone for his expose on the Executive’s actions regarding Iraq by invoking Bradbury’s dystopian Fahrenheit 451, but also at the close of the film with a more subtle reference to Orwell’s 1984. As with Winston wondering if he was fighting Eurasia or Eastasia, we are left with a sense of what exactly are out soldiers fighting and dying for. These references also add resonance to Moore’s portrayal of a government of secrecy, built on advancing causes and agendas without the knowledge or consent of its people.

It seems that there can be little doubt that 9/11 presented the Bush administration a great opportunity to push through changes and use an overseas offensive to change public opinion and perception. Using fear tactics and “an aura of endless threat,” the American people (and congress) were convinced to erode individual rights all in the name of national security. As Benjamin Franklin once wrote, “Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” Terribly troubling to me was the admission by the Congressman interviewed that not only was the Patriot Act passed without being read, but most bills are passed without ever having been read by those voting. Since its passage, we have seen a myriad of abuses including a vast warrantless wiretapping program that violates not only the Constitution, and settled law but a previous executive policy in place since Vietnam. (http://aclu.procon.org/viewanswers.asp?questionID=000718)

As for the imminent threat presented by Iraq with WMDs as a part of the comprehensive strategy of the War of Terror (our love affair with wars on amorphous concepts notwithstanding), many have cited quotes from 2003 saying that we had found the mobile labs. And yet, since 2003, no one has dared make this claim because, as it turns out, all the tips about where to find them were fabricated by an informant codenamed “Curveball.” The Commission of the Intelligence Capabilities of the United States Regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction Report declares that no such facilities were ever found. (http://usiraq.procon.org/viewanswers.asp?questionID=000896) Iraq was no great threat, but was more politically expedient because it provided a central target to focus American rage and loss. Vice president Cheney was quoted as saying there were no good targets in Afghanistan, and that to find the terrorists, we would “smoke ‘em out.”

Others have had great objection to the portrayal of our troops in Iraq, saying that the cavalier attitudes are isolated and the majority of soldiers are good people. I know a number of friends and family in the military, but I also know that there is a certain type of person attracted to military service as well. The soldier who was seen singing and declaring that once combat began, they shot at anything moving represents an aspect of the military that I would say is impossible to entirely remove. It is no surprise that nearly all white supremacist groups are found clustered around areas with military bases. (Schaeffer, Richard. Racial and Ethnic Groups, 2008. p. 40)

Moore’s presentation of the previous administration’s actions and those of our troops in Iraq should give all Americans pause to consider the price we are willing to pay for our security.

  50. I have heard of Micheal Moore before and that he made a lot of documentary. I was very interested to watch his documentary. When watching Farenheit 911 is could see how everything he said made since, about Bush. In seeing how Bush ran the country it seems like all he did was vaction just like micheal moore said he did at the beginning of he election. I support what Micheal said because we can see that gas prices has gone up to 4.00 a gallon. We can see tha Bush Family is in the oil Business. So with what Micheal Moore Said about Bush I find it to be true because of the things that i have seen in the world. Our country is struggling and i think a lot of that has to do with Bush. So when Micheal Moore goes on about the things that Bush has done. I have to side with Micheal Moore because I have seen how America is right now.

  51. in this move micheal moore is trying to play of the goverment or bush and the current war its in as a frivolous endevour that shouldnt have started in the first place. and he does this very well he brings together many pieces of evidence against the war and goverment in general and appears as he has done his homework. He also has many witness and video tapes of people that have been ther and experienced it first hand. who could know better. after all is said and done he puts it together very well. and persuades the viewer that all of this that is going on in the world is a bunch of nonsensical voilence for personal gain.

  52. After I watch this movie, it break my heart and make me feel guilty.Even it is true or not that American went to Iraq for just oil,America still hurt innocent people.Yes we need oil, but I do not want to take people's life.Same time we need to protect this country and people from terrorist. To kill or capture those terrorists, it might be not possible to involve other people, I understnad that, but same time if my family got hurt or die from this, I would be so mad at the government. that the president was out vacationing while he had information that there were terrorists going to attack is unforgivable. i also think that thek people in the government need to be willing to have their special kids fight too. why are they protected and we are not??? si is the war in iraq really a war on terror or is it just a new way to make the rest of the world hate us?

  53. It takes alot of courage to accuse your President of having alternative motives for war. Michael Moore's Farenheit 9/11 tells us Americans what kind of a President, George W. Bush really was. I don't understand why we went to war with Iraq. Other than a chance to finish what your father couldn't. President Bush said it himself that he was a "War President" and that Saddam tried to kill his father. Maybe he wanted revenge for the attempts to kill his Dad. I thought Osama Bin Laden was responsible for the 9/11 attacks, not Saddam Hussein. I also thought we were invading Iraq because they had weapons of mass detruction. Why is it that none were found? It is my opinion that Bush seen a dollar sign in there fields of oil. It makes me ashamed to be an American.

  54. I truley believe that when Bush was president he wasn't doing a good job of running this country. Myers had thrown out good stuff showing that he was doing nothing. Like the fact where Bush knew that the attacked had happened then why did he stay in the class room, come on whats more important reading to a class of second graders or the world. Or on the fact that no congress men had there family enrolled in military branch's expect one guy out of how many. Myer had proven his points really well.

  55. Although George W. Bush had a fun time on vacation...a job I wish I could get paid his salary to do...there were things he should have been focussing more time on. When a terrorist attack takes place, the time for preparation has past. It makes me wonder what September 12th would have been like if Bush had spent more time doing his job. I guess when you live a life of privilege, it is easy to overlook the true nature of work.

  56. Michael Moore definitely had a point when talking about George Bush in that classroom full of kids. He should have at least cut his time off at the elementary school and left without making a scene--just say something important came up. It's not like the kids weren't going to see the towers falling on tv when they got home. He just looked at everyone like "shit. what do i do now?" As far as the army recruiters, those fuckers really are like that. I used to work at a car wash and every other day, those assholes would come and harass me. You'll always see them at places that don't pay well. My dad was in the army and what most people don't know is that those recruiters get awesome commision for getting people to join. It's usually vacation leave, or a straight up bonus for signing them up. There's a lot in it for them. They're just salesmen. These are a couple things that Michael Moore touched on and I thought he did he good job.

  57. This movie raised some important issues like what was done to prevent such an attack? Why are we in Iraq? are there connections between george w. bush and the bin laden family? what about cheney and haliburton? also how well was it handled that the president of the united states priority was to sit and listen to kids read rather than handle buisness when something of this magnitude came up come on give me a break now this is my thoughts of the documentary after watching farenhype 9/11 okay farenheit 9/11 appears to be some left wing propaganda and i sit on the left side of things and i see it this way. some unethical tactics involved not moore's best but watch bowling for columbine and argue with that

  58. I remember when I first watched this years ago when it went to theaters. I remember being blown away, disgusted, depressed, energized, angry, and betrayed. I really couldn't say that Fahrenheit was a "good" movie because it just brought out such raw emotion that classifying it as good or bad really was meaningless. What Moore does well is he brings up things that are prominent and important, and presents them in a somewhat interesting and almost mocking manner. His bits with Bush on vacation, and the Afghanistan! thing were hilarious and a nice uplift from the somber topic of the film. Michael Moore set out to analyze 9/11 and the president, and he did so in a way that left out the conspiracy theory about it being an inside job. Instead, he focused on the fact that it was all but ignored by the administration, and showed how they exploited it for their own good. In this way, Moore is able to convince more people of his viewpoint without alienating those that refuse to even consider conspiracy theories. Fahrenheit 9/11 has a weaker effect today, but when it was released, its effect was profound.

  59. Watching this film brought me to the attention at what first seemed like little subtle details and turned them into significant reasons for the public to be outraged with the acts of the US government and businesses.

    And rightfully so.

What is wrong with bringing to attention of the wrongs of the government? Nothing. What did George Bush do when he heard about the 9/11 attacks? Nothing. How can you react to such a catastrophe with nothing?

Afterwards, a link was conjured up with the 9/11 attacks between Al-Qaeda and Saddam Hussein. However, many reports indicated that there was no such link at all.

"There have been reports that contacts between Iraq and al Qaeda also occurred after Bin Ladin had returned to Afghanistan, but they do not appear to have resulted in a collaborative relationship. Two senior Bin Ladin associates have adamantly denied that any ties existed between al Qaeda and Iraq. We have no credible evidence that Iraq and al Qaeda cooperated on attacks against the United States." -The National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States

    Even Saddam himself said this:
"If we had a relationship with al-Qaeda and we believed in that relationship we wouldn't be ashamed to admit it. Therefore I would like to tell you directly and also through you to anyone who is interested to know that we have no relationship with al-Qaeda."

Where are the WMDs in Iraq that so strongly influenced members of congress and the public into war with Iraq? Well let's see...

"Extensive post-war investigations were carried out by the Iraqi Survey Group (ISG). "The ISG found no evidence that Iraq had tried to reconstitute its capability to produce nuclear weapons after 1991; no evidence of biological weapon (BW) agent stockpiles or of mobile biological weapons production facilities; and no substantial chemical warfare (CW) stockpiles or credible indications that Baghdad had resumed production of CW after 1991."-The Commission of the Intelligence Capabilities of the United States Regarding Weapons of Mass Destruction

"I don't remember resumption of chemical weapon production before the Gulf War. Maybe it was only minimal production and filling. But there was no decision to use chemical weapons for fear of retaliation. They must have a revision of decision to start production.
All chemical weapons were destroyed. I ordered destruction of all chemical weapons. All weapons - biological, chemical, missiles, nuclear were destroyed."-Hussien Kamel, former Director of Iraq's Industrialization Corporation in charge of Iraq's weapons program

The war in Iraq should have never happened. There was no plausible reason to go in this mess. Now its a huge mess to get out.

  60. Pros:

i like how to turn a serious issue into a humorous one as well. i found it funny how moore is so creative to leave us in the dark, because unlike any other movie where they will just show you what happened on 9/11, moore keeps it off the screeen, you hear the plane crashing into the towers, and hear people screeming. i liked this movie better than the other one. dont get me wrong but they were boring, its just that this one was boring at the same time funny, to me that is.

    Cons:

One thing that i really disliked about the movie, was the fact that bush didn't really do anything when the towers were attacked, i know he must have alot going through his head, but he should in fact be screaming, running, and calling as much people as possible to try to help out the country. i didn't really seem to logical that bush still continued to stay and read at the elementry school.
